Breakout Day
Breakout Day
So what is this “Breakout Day”?
Well….after the arrival at the festival – with jet lag and all….and then two intense days of rehearsals with the wonderful guest conductors and performances as well, it’s time for a break!!
So, we have a day for recreation and local sight-seeing ….a day to do that “bonding stuff” that we all do on these choir tours!
On Thursday, July 7, CSICF provides choirs with breakfast on campus and a brown-bag lunch. Choirs typically leave campus right after breakfast for the day. Choirs provide their own dinner for this day.
Breakout Day is an opportunity for all choirs to visit some of the exciting tourist attractions in and around Burnaby and Vancouver. With careful planning, choirs could arrange a full-day trip to Victoria on Vancouver Island, Hell’s Gate in the Fraser River Canyon, or the post Olympic 2010 attractions in Whistler Village.
All Breakout Day activity costs and the transportation for the day are the financial responsibility of each choir. Our travel partner, Ellison Travel and Tours Ltd, is happy to book charter buses or school buses, and will locate group rates for such well-known and popular tourist attractions as Burnaby Village Museum, Stanley Park, the Vancouver Aquarium, Capilano Suspension Bridge, Grouse Mountain Skyride, Granville Island Market, the Science Centre, the Museum of Anthropology at UBC, whale-watching excursions, and much, much more.
There are many shopping centres in the Burnaby area including the Brentwood Town Centre Mall, The Lougheed Town Centre and Metropolis at Metrotown. Metropolis at Metrotown is the largest mall in the area. Be sure to visit the mall’s visitor information centre for discount cards and other mall promotions.
CSI Choral Festival is pleased to partner with Ellison Travel & Tours Ltd. will as a Festival Special Contributing Sponsor. Ellison Travel can take care of any festival travel concerns and pre- or post-festival extended tours. You may consider visiting Vancouver Island or traveling to the Canadian Rockies before or after the Festival.
