Short description of the Festival:
The 4th Biennial Coastal Sound International Choral Festival will be held July 4 to July 9, 2011. The Festival “Songs of the World 2011″ will be celebrated at Simon Fraser University, Burnaby. For these 5 days Burnaby Mountain will be “singing” with the songs of 6 US Children’s Choirs coming from Alaska, California, Florida, Illinois, Ohio and Wisconsin, and of the 2 host Canadian choirs, Coastal Sound Children’s Choir and Youth Choir. These eight choirs of approximately 300 high energy singers will share performances - in various locations in Burnaby, Vancouver and Surrey. Entrance to these performances will be on a “Pay What You Are Able Donation” basis.
The Opening Ceremonies will take place on July 4, 2011 at the Convocation Mall of the SFU Burnaby campus. Three evening concerts, July 5th, July 6th and July 8th, will be held in downtown Vancouver at St. Andrew’s Wesley United Church. The Gala Closing concert with all 300 singers on stage will be held on July 9th in Surrey at Chandos Pattison Auditorium.
