2009 Festival Schedule
Monday, June 29
- Travel day: Choirs arrive in Vancouver and check in at Simon Fraser University Campus.
- Lunch will be provided in the dining hall.
- Afternoon: Flag Blocking, Processional Rehearsal, and Welcome event (3pm).
- Dinner will be provided in the dining hall.
- Evening: Opening Ceremonies and Concert in Convocation Mall at 7:30pm.
- Post concert social event: TBD
Tuesday, June 30
- Breakfast on campus.
- AM - Separate massed choir rehearsals on campus with Francisco J. Núñez and Adam Con.
- Solo clinics/workshops on campus.
- Lunchtime solo concerts in surrounding communities.
- PM - massed choir rehearsals on campus followed by separate SSA and SATB rehearsals.
- Dinner break on campus.
- Evening concert in surrounding community: Songs of the World 1.
Wednesday, July 1
Canada Day - National Holiday
- Breakfast on campus.
- Breakout Day. All choirs are on their own. Optional church service or Canada Day performances available. Tourist activities to be arranged by individual choirs or through Ellison Travel. Brown-bag lunch supplied by festival.
- Choirs responsible for own dinner.
- Choirs return to campus in the evening (no planned activities).
Thursday, July 2
- Breakfast on campus.
- AM - Separate massed choir rehearsals on campus with Francisco J. Núñez and Adam Con.
- Solo clinics/workshops on campus.
- Lunchtime solo concerts in surrounding communities.
- PM - massed choir rehearsals on campus followed by separate SSA and SATB rehearsals.
- Dinner break on campus.
- Evening concert in surrounding community: Songs of the World 2.
Friday, July 3
- Breakfast on campus.
- AM -Separate massed choir rehearsals on campus with Francisco J. Núñez and Adam Con.
- Solo clinics/workshops on campus.
- Lunchtime solo concerts in surrounding communities.
- PM - TBD - Additional rehearsal time or choirs will be provided free time for on campus activities (ie: Swimming or Hiking)
- Dinner break on campus.
- Evening concert in surrounding community: Songs of the World 3.
Saturday, July 4
- Breakfast on campus.
- All choirs depart 9:45 AM for sound and blocking rehearsals with massed choirs at Chandos Pattison Auditorium. Choirs will not return to campus until after Gala Closing Evening Concert. Blocking and massed choir rehearsals continue during the day. Lunch and dinner supplied onsite.
- Gala Closing Concert at 7:30 PM.
- Return to campus for Farewell Party, and to say goodbyes.
Sunday, July 5
- Breakfast on campus.
- Travel day: Choirs depart campus for home OR
- Additional Tour Day: choirs that wish to extend their stay should contact the festival manager to arrange for additional meals and accommodations
